Barry Miles is widely considered to be an authority on the writers and artists who emerged during the 1950s and ‘60s. His books include Many Years From Now (the authorized biography of Paul McCartney); Hippie; The Beat Hotel: Ginsberg, Burroughs, and Corso in Paris, 1957-1963 and In the Sixties. His book Zappa: A Biography, was a New York Times bestseller in the US in 2004. Recent books include, London Calling: A Counter-Cultural History of London since 1945, published in 2010 to wide acclaim and, In the Seventies: Adventures in the Counterculture, published in 2011.
He is currently at work on a major biography of William Burroughs due for publication in 2014 to coincide with the centenary of Burroughs’s birth.
