David Dabydeen

david_dabydeenDavid Dabydeen is the author of seven novels, three collections of poetry and several works of non-fiction and criticism. His first collection, Slave Song won the Commonwealth Poetry Prize and his first novel, The Intended won the Guyana Prize for Literature.

He is now Professor at the Centre for Caribbean Studies at the University of Warwick and is also Guyana’s Ambassador-at-Large. He was an editor on The Oxford Companion to Black British History published in 2007. His most recent novel, Johnson's Dictionary, was published in 2013. He has recently been awarded the prestigious Anthony Sabga Award for Caribbean Literature.
