David Keen

david-keenDavid Keen is Professor of Complex Emergencies at LSE. He has emerged as one of the major theorists of contemporary conflict, notably in African society. His work is based on extensive fieldwork in Sudan, Sierra Leone and Iraq as well as archival research.

Recent books include Endless War? Hidden Functions of the ‘War on Terror’ and Complex Emergencies. He is currently working on a book titled Useful Enemies: When Waging Wars is More Important than Winning Them, to be published by Yale in 2012.
