Louise Doughty

Louise Doughty is the author of ten novels including Crazy Paving (shortlisted for four major literary awards including the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize); Fires in the Dark; Whatever You Love (shortlisted for the 2010 Costa Novel Award and longlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction 2011); Apple Tree Yard, which has been published into twenty-four languages, and, most recently, A Bird in Winter. She has also published a work of non-fiction, A Novel in a Year, based on her column in the Daily Telegraph. She has written five plays for radio and worked widely as a critic and broadcaster, and was a judge for the 2008 Man Booker Prize for fiction.

Louise’s novels, Apple Tree Yard and Platform Seven, have both been adapted as major drama series for television, and she scripted the original drama series, ‘Crossfire’.  An adaptation of her novel, A Bird in Winter, is currently in development for television.
