Robert Edric


Robert Edric is the author of over a dozen novels including The Broken Lands; A New Ice Age (winner of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and runner-up to the Guardian Fiction Prize); The Book of the Heathen (shortlisted for the WH Smith Literary Award); Peacetime (longlisted for the 2002 Booker Prize); Gathering the Water (longlisted for the 2006 Booker Prize) and three linked novels about crime, Cradle Song, Siren Song and Swan Song.
He is one of the most critically admired novelists of his generation. His novel, In Zodiac Light, based on the life of the WWI composer and poet Ivor Gurney, was shortlisted for the 2010 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. The London Satyr was selected as one of the 2011 ‘Fiction Uncovered’ titles.
Robert’s most recent book is a memoir, My Own Worst Enemy, which was published in 2022 by Swift Press.
